Eagle five Gallon Red Safety Gasoline Can meets OSHA and NFPA Code 30 prerequisites and are UL and ULC listed and are FM Factory Mutual accepted for the safe handling and storage of gasoline and other flammable liquids. Eagle cans feature environmentally friendly Lead Free Technology, constructed of 24 gauge hot dipped Galvanized steel, deep drawn one part seamless body construction, non sparking brass integral pour spout, with a spring closing cover with neoprene gasket which vents at 3 5 psi interior pressure. The can features a fixed handle and patented comfort grip trigger release for easy dispensing, a double interlock no weld bottom seam, 100 Leak tested, and a baked on red powder coat finish. This gas can is by far the best gas can I have ever owned. The spring loaded cap keeps the gas in the can and the funnel lets much easier pouring than any other system I have seen. The only issue is that when the air in the can heated up, a slight total of pressure develops that you must release by opening the spring loaded cap before you attempt to pour. Otherwise if you open the cap with gas already at the brim many of it’ll sort of spray into the air.

In hurricane season when a storm is on the way and you have to store extra gasoline in your garage, it’s much safer to use a ‘safety’ can like this one rather then the standard red plastic ones you get at home depot. Made of lasting metal with a self closing cover, this can makes us feel much better about storing gas under our roof. It comes with a funnel to make pouring easier, but to put the gas into your tank you’ll most likely need an extra funnel we bought the Plews Utility Funnel with Screen, that’s made of metal with a adaptable spout.

I just bought my second can and love them. The funnel is hard to put on but if you really pull back the handle it goes on pretty easily. The newer one works a bit easier than the older one. I agree with others that if the gas is stored in a hot area you shold release the pressure before pouring but the tank doesn’t expand like my pastic cans do. When transpoting in the back of an SUV or car there’s NO odor escape. I use them for tractors, lawn mowers, etc with no problem but I can see that if you tryed to pour into a car or truck filler door that was vertical it may be a problem to get enough gas into the car.
