    Verified PurchaseWhat’s this?

Since I got my 1st Felco pruner, I’ll not think about purchasing any other brand. Not only do they work better than any other brand, they’re easy to take separately and clean and replace worn parts. They’re comparatively easy to sharpen, though it takes a somewhat different touch than your pocket knife or chef’s knife.

The bottom line is that they work really, really well for many years, without sharpening. Their scissors action is much better than the anvil style. This F 2 model is the most general function design and I use it on virtually everything.

I will propose that if, like me, you have comparatively small hands, the smaller F 6 model is somewhat more comfy and easier to use for most work. I have both and use the F 6 for heavy responsibility end of the year pruning and the F 2 during the summer for average pruning jobs.

I have a couple of rules about tools that I have developed for myself, I will share one here, do not purchase crap. Most costly does not equate best, but do your homework and purchase good quality, it’ll cost you less in the long run.

A not many years ago I bought a pair of corona “professional” pruners after having borrowed my brother in laws felco #2’s. I used them for a couple of cuts and could not stand them. So I took them back, which I really do not like to do much but they just were not what they were represented to be by the salesman. Which is as good as Felco pruners. Corona makes other good merchandise I am particularly fond of their lopers. Then I went to another store before I grew so fond of and bought many of these. I LOVE THEM. I can not say that enough so just in case you missed it, I LOVE THEM. For the last not many years I have used them every year for a good number of trees, shrubs and bushes. They’re still sharp, I have not had to sharpen them. They cut like the day I bought them. They’re so smooth and feel so nice in your hand in comparison to any of the others I have used. When I was young and dumb I worked landscaping for a while, the boss had a set of these, but we got stuck using whatever else, now I know why!

If you want the best hand pruners that will last you at least twice as long, I think you have found the right pair.

Ok, I’m an ex foreman arborist, now a stay at home dad. You won’t find any better pruners. I had bought many cheap $5 pruners from HD and the things literally fell separately with the 1st use. When i trimmed trees I used these same pruners for about three years straight and they’re AWESOME! If your reading this then you most likely do not need my advice on purchasing Felcos, your just trying to pic a model. The #f 2’s are the standard pruner that my old job, Davey Tree, gave to its arborists. They work great and fit the hand perfect. I could propose this model unless you have tried others and know what you want. Good Luck and happy Pruning!

    great wood splitter for women,
    January 10, 2002

    By A Customer

I have been splitting wood for some years and it’s hard work for a woman. Newly, a friend let me borrow his power axe by Fiskars. It’s a great tool. I can split twice the wood with less effort than when I use a conventional wood splitter. The price is right since a heavy wood handled splitter costs $25 to $40, and frequently the wooden handles crack and break after a season or two. Five stars, plus for this tool.

    Great Axe,

By&nbsp,El “Griton” South Texas See all my reviews

After purchasing the Fiskars standard 2.5 lb splitter and 2.25 lb. Chopping axes I decided to purchase the heavier 4.5 lb maul Power Axe 7854 for the harder oak wood and I wasn’t disappointed. I also got the Fiskars sharpening tool 10 dollars and it works great with all of the Fiskars axes.

One possible problem for many people: The handle may have been about three to four inches longer on the Power Axe but if one uses good form it works great as a medium weight maul.

As with swinging ANY sharp tool good form and many common sense are a must to avoid injury.

These axes are sharp from the factory but they’ll not shave hair till you use the sharpener. Some passes with the sharpener and these axes will shave your arm or anything else you want to.

The design of the blade and the teflon covering on it prevents the axe from sticking to the wood. If it fails to split in the 1st swing just pull it out and take another swing. The light handle keeps the weight up front where it belongs. Also do not forget to lightly oil the blades when done or they’ll rust in a wet environment. After slicing my finger oiling the camp axe I spray WD 40 on them now.

My old cheap wood handled axe wasn’t sharp and it kept sticking to the wood so bad that I on occasion required to hammer it out. Once the handle started to come loose I just gave the thing away

I bought the 14 inch camp axe 20 dollars at Home Depot but it is too light for all but the smallest chores. Most likely will be called on to help butcher deer and wild hogs.

PRO: Great handling, good looking, really sharp tough blades, your gonna love it.

CON: Short handle: watch your form or you’ll be taking off many toes or worse.

    &nbsp,&nbsp,

I bought one of these for my fiancee, who is the gardener type. I bought it so she could stop absconding with my pocket knife, and so far my plan worked nicely. I am no conoisseur of bypass pruners, but these seem constructed and plenty sharp. The tools are common Leatherman steel, which is to say adequate unto the task.

I strongly favor locking knives, and this one does not. That is a bummer, especially with the saw. I have also become accustomed to having access to the knife blades on the outside of the tool the way the Wave and Charge are designed but I think that could have made this tool too bulky and unwieldy. As it’s, it is a big tool.Noticeably bigger than my Charge. The handles are comfy enough, with nice injection molded rubber inserts.

The sheath is great. There is a metal pocket clip, and a nylon belt slot. The tool may be stored either folded, or in pruner mode, which is a nice touch.

Well made, well intended, conceived. In spite of my quibbles, the lady is a happy gardener, and my pocket knife is way less muddy. Mission accomplished.

    &nbsp,&nbsp,

I bought this item newly. And returned it now. While Leatherman offers excellent Multitools, this gardening tool is rather pathetic for anything other than very light use. I’m an avid city gardener and bought this product thinking I may have an all in one tool as I do my daily garden maintenance. But, none of the tools really measure up for any important use. The pruners are average at best, much better bi pass pruners may be had for less with more comfy handles I concur with many of the other reviewers, the handles are awful. Not just uneasy, but not almost strong enough for the job, the weeding tool is a joke! it is not long enough to pull weeds unless you practically bury the handle in the ground. And then you’d have dirt clogging up the mechanics of the tool. The saw is totally impractical, and the other tools are hardly worth mentioning. Again, I usually like Leatherman tools, my husband can not be found without his multitool on his belt, but this simply isn’t up to the task of serious gardening. If all you do is very light work and you like gadgets, then by all means give it a whirl. But, if you need useable tools in the garden, I propose looking elsewhere.

I have had been using this tool for about six weeks now and I love it. It’s useful device to grab and slip the clip on my pocket as I make the rounds of my garden beds flower and vegetable to do a little maintenance. The pruners work well for deadheading and light corrective pruning, the weeder works well for loosening the sporadic errant weed, and I find the screwdrivers useful for tightening trellis screws. Now instead of trying to load my pockets with some number of tools all I have to do is grab the leatherman. Many seem to have issues with the sheath, but I like it and believe I favor it to leather as many suggested.

For many small flowers I still, but find I favor my garden scissors for deadheading and of course for heavy responsibility pruning it isn’t going to be your tool of choice, but for general maintenance I find its all I need.
